The Graceful Spaces Lovely Lakeside

Is there anything more summer than a home on the lake? We are thrilled to take you inside our latest tour—a gorgeous getaway we’ve named the Lovely Lakeside.

HERE’S WHAT WE DID:

- Edited and categorized items in the kitchen and pantry

- Refreshed older dinnerware, kitchen tools, and household supplies

- Created zones in the pantry, kitchen, and laundry room for easy use by family members and guests

- Outlined linen sizes for easy upkeep by house managers

- Outfitted the bathroom decor and essentials to fit daily routines

- Created a future-proof closet layout for our client’s daughter

The Kitchen & Pantry

The Lovely Lakeside is a mecca for entertaining, so we honored that in everything we did within the kitchen and pantry zones.

An entertaining zone near the door to the pool ensures family and guests can easily grab what they need to enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the sun.

The pull-out drawers in the pantry were designed to feel like a farmer’s market, putting fresh produce in reach while cooking and preparing food. Snacks were placed strategically so all the kids could keep things tidy while finding a bite to eat.

To keep things light and bright, we expanded on our client’s collection of clear OXO canisters, complimenting them with woven baskets.

PRO TIP: When planning zones, we like to get a feel for how the family moves around the space. For the Lovely Lakeside, this meant setting up an entertaining zone closest to the pool access drawer for uninterrupted summer fun!

The Laundry & Linens

The laundry room was another space created with guests in mind. We set up a pool zone with sunscreen and towels for pool guests, while drawer dividers kept essentials in place. Our clients needed to be able to pack for doggy day care quickly, so we pet stored pet supplies in easy reach.

With any big family, a stockpile of laundry detergent is a must! We created plenty of storage for backups.

In the linen closet, we marked sheet storage by size to make it easy for anyone on the household management team to switch out bedding.

Pro tip

Try to organize things as logically as possible in guest spaces. Put popular-use items at eye level, keeping backups and occasional use zones out of the way.

The Primary Bath & Closet

Our client wanted her primary closet to have a boutique feel, so we put items on display wherever possible so she could shop her closet every morning.

Clear drawer dividers were used to separate makeup, while open shelving served as the perfect home for her handbag collection.

On his side, we folded shirts to stand up vertically in their drawers for easy perusal. Small touches of decor (both functional and aesthetic) kept the boutique feel, adding pops of personality to the neutral built-ins. Function played a huge role in this layout. Shoes were organized from most to least used to streamline getting ready each day. One dresser was designated for athleisure, while the other stored everyday essentials.

In the bathroom, we kept everyday items to the right to suit our right-handed client, keeping weekly toiletries to the left.

Pro Tip

You’re more likely to wear what you see. Put clothing and accessories in clear containers or open shelving to give your space a boutique feel, reserving opaque storage for seasonal or occasional-use items.

Your closet should be a place that motivates you and supports your goals for the day. Read our Ultimate Guide for a comprehensive lesson to organizing your closets like a pro.

Sustainable Sink Storage

The Lovely Lakeside is the perfect example of signature storage in action. To maximize the space under the sink, we used deep drawers for trash bags and Linus bins to keep cleaning products in easy reach. Dishwasher pods found a home on the inside cabinet door.

PRO TIP:

To maximize space, consider every available surface. Backs of doors are a great place to store items without feeling cluttered.
