The GS Magical Moss Home Tour

We’re so thrilled to introduce you to our recent Magical Moss project. Designer Britt Bowen created an incredible balance of light and dark by designing the right half of the home in all white and the right side in all black/grey. The two sides are blended together by a one-of-a-kind moss wall.

Our Graceful Spaces team stepped in to create sustainable solutions for this family of 5 as they move into their incredible new home. Join us as we share the ultimate snack station, a carefully curated kitchen, daily dress stations and so much more!

The Kitchen

For this family starting fresh meant all new kitchen supplies including appliances, dishes, cookware, bakeware … the works! Christina and Torie jumped on the opportunity to purchase and organize a kitchen tailored to fit the specific family needs.

See our complete list of kitchen supplies needed in every home here.

After completing our shipping list of basics and adding in the additional needs specific to our client, we got to shopping! We chose one-stop shopping through Crate and Barrel because of their deep stock and quick shipping. The majority of items can also be found at Target.

To make it easy we’ve shared our Fully Stocked shopping cart with you here.

Kitchen Zones included:

  • Tupperware/lunch prep - Stocked with baggies, lunch boxes, plasticware.

  • Entertaining - At the farthest end of the kitchen as these items are only used monthly.

  • Daily Access - Glassware, plated, silverware… all closet to the frig and dishwasher for easy access.

  • Breakfast / Smooth Station - The blender, toaster, supplements, and cereals in an easy to access cabinet next to the frig.

  • Kids Station - In a lower drawer, we’ve created an easy to access space for kids plastic plates and cups.

When it comes to entertaining this family of 5 hosts quite a few little people. To create a welcoming environment and easy daily access for this young family we added a snack station to the kitchen. We’ve utilized T.H.E. Snack Canisters (medium & large) to decant daily snacks purchased in bulk. The clear lids on this new product make it easy to see what’s available in a kid-friendly fashion.

The Pantry

Adjacent to the kitchen is a beautiful walk-in pantry. Because of the layout, we blended both pantry categories together including the daily zones in the kitchen and the weekly/monthly and annual zones in the pantry.

Pantry zones included:

  • Serving ware

  • Coffee/tea

  • Baking

  • Cooking

  • Condiments

  • Overflow food/snacks

We believe every pan and serving tray should live a vertical life! Making options easy to grab and reducing the risk of breaks. Shop our favorite cabinet pan organizer from Target or see an adjustable option from Container Store.

The Laundry Room & Art Room

The laundry room is pulling double duty and it’s doing it well! With plenty of cabinets and drawer space, we were able to complete a fully stocked art room while still saving room for basic laundry items.

Acrylic drawer organizers are always our first choice for spaces that tend to get a little messy. They are dishwasher safe and come in a variety of sizes.

To keep counters clean and clutter-free we dedicated space for “in progress” projects. Acrylic totes allow kiddos to grab what they need and complete projects from anywhere.

We love these specific totes because they are taller then most which means the markers and pencils aren’t falling out!

When it comes to the design of this house, every detail was covered. And we wanted to mirror that standard when it came to organizing as well! To continue the clean, sleek, and simplistic style of the home we’ve organized costumes and ski into grey garment bags clearly marked for easy annual access.

Kid’s art can quickly take over! And they are never a simple letter size! We’ve discovered these basic portfolio storage bags to be an amazing solution for storing kids’ art until you are able to find long term memory solutions such as Artkive.

And never forget the sweet pups! We were thrilled to find these beautiful Decorative Pandan Basket from Target that are not only beautiful but very well made (aka going to withstand the demands of a mudroom)!! A new release and quick favorite!

(Update: these baskets are out of stock but you can shop a full list of our favorite mudroom baskets here.)

The Kids Closets

We know we’re not supposed to have favorites… but these closets make it hard not to! Designer, Britt Snyder did an incredible job of creating functional space that highlights the beauty of childhood.

To complement the design and to provide sustainable solutions we’ve added water hyacinth baskets to all three kids closets. Each basket includes clearly marked acrylic labels by our in house label provider Scripts By Sarah Ashely. (Feel free to contact her to order your own!)

One of the most important rules of creating kids spaces is to only keep accessible the options to wear this season. In every GS closet you’ll find systems that store items that are too big, too small or out of season.

To keep drawers neat and tidy we’ve included expandable drawer organizers. We’ve also hung cheer clothes for easy access and visibility (rather than putting them in drawers where they are more likely to become a bundle).

One of our favorite solutions in this closet is the daily dress zone! Clearly marked, days-of-the-week labels make it easy for each kid to know exactly what to wear er each morning.

Order these iron on options from Scripts By Sarah Ashley or explore Etsy for endless options.

We told you… these closets make it impossible not to mark as a favorite! To match the dark features in this closet we added grey linen kids handers and mocha hyacinth baskets.

And if this wasn’t enough, we were THRILLED to see the perfect space available for us to add a custom nerf gun wall.

The Playroom

Just when you think the details in this home couldn’t get any better… This custom-designed playroom includes sleepover heaven! (Follow designer Britt Bowen for more incredible projects!) Two closets complete this room. We used one for sleepover supplies such as slippers, eye masks, and toiletries. The second larger closet is used for toys, books, and games. A natural separation was created by using water hyacinth baskets for preschool-aged toys and white plastic bins for school-aged toys.

The Guest House

To create a peaceful and welcome feeling we’ve added a few touches to the guest house including labeled bins, swim supplies and accessible kitchen necessities.

The Graceful Spaces team specializes in whole-home projects. We have found there are spaces in the home that work together to support sustainable organizing. When you think about organizing a space consider organizing the spaces that support. For example, a kitchen is impacted by the laundry room and the pantry. A Master Closet is often affected by the Master Bathroom.
