3 things Professional Organizers want you to know–

We are so fortunate to be surrounded by so many creative, talented, and passionate organizers. We live in a day where we are able to share our work on social media and learn from each others creative solutions to often tricky situations. The spaces may look and function a bit differently from Manhattan to McKinney, TX, so we asked a few of our favorite organizers what piece of advice they give to potential clients.

“Organization does not mean perfection”

@doneanddonehome

...there is one thing that remains true in every space we work in. You can’t organize clutter. We’re not minimalists by any stretch of the imagination, but the bottom line is we all just have way too much stuff. Which leads to our recommendation which we call Owning Well®️. This is the philosophy of buying the very best products you can afford and then taking care of them. Intentional shopping is the key to maintaining order. The more that comes in, the more that has to be dealt with, so the simple solution is don’t bring it through the door in the first place!

“You can’t organize clutter”

@neatfreakmckinney

Being organized doesn’t have to translate to “a perfectly styled white kitchen with all the newest accessories”. Being organized is simply knowing where all your stuff is, and being able to access it, and use it, when needed! It’s freeing to be organized!

“take advantage of every square inch”

@theaestheticorganizer

As a New York City Professional Organizer, I seek to maximize every inch of precious space that we are afforded! Take advantage of every square inch by going vertical! This is so important and simple to achieve as most NYC homes have high ceilings. Measure your space once, measure twice and buy solutions that can work vertically -

examples: stacked shoe boxes in shelves, stackable drawer systems in bathrooms, shelf risers in pantry and kitchen
— Wendy, The Aesthetic Organizer, New York

Are you attempting to create perfection rather than improve the function of your own home? or of holding on to too many things? Or not using your space as effectively as you could? Follow along with Done & Done Home, Neat Freak Mckinney, The Aesthetic Organizer, and Graceful Spaces for a daily dose of home organization inspiration.

Special thank you to these wonderful organizers for taking the time to share with us! –
